Growing up in Northwest Ohio…
…the last thing I wanted to do was leave the familiar faces of my high school and carry on to a vocational school down the road. It took a lot of convincing from my mother (bless her soul) to get me to go. I wasn’t very mechanically inclined and I had never even fired up a welding machine before. I don’t think I even owned a pair of work boots yet! I was the definition of what they call the X-Box “green.” My mother told me that I needed to learn this skill even though I wanted to be a pharmacist because – like most teenagers that age – I didn’t know what I wanted to do.
My mother said:
This is for your future, this is a skill that can make you good money throughout all your life. Some of your friends will wish they had done the same.Cheryl Ottney

Lifelong Skills Welding Will Teach You:
- Work Ethic
- Concurring Fear
- Pride & Craftsmanship
- Being Held Accountable
- Forging Your Path
I’ve dedicated most of my youth to grow the skilled trade of welding online through social media by sharing community craftsmanship, pure entertainment, and a little welder ingenuity.
Helping to grow and ignite welder owned businesses, building this platform and welding to keep the lights on has been a lot of work and it wouldn’t be possible without the support and involvement from all of you. Thank you!
I created the #weldblog so as a community we can express opinions and experiences on topics related to the glorious and not so glorious weld life.
